SMEs and Climate Change—the Communication Challenge

Webinar w Chris Shaw, Tina Fawcett, Sam Hampton and Richard Blundel
Thursday, 28 Feb 2019 | 13:00-14:00 GMT

Small and medium-sized enterprises face many competing pressures—so how can we encourage owners and managers to engage with the issue, and re-position their businesses for a lower carbon future? Join us at this lunchtime webinar for practical advice on communicating more effectively with (and within) SMEs using a proven, values-based approach, plus a brief overview of a new, free-to-use, online course, Using Values to Promote Sustainable Ways of Doing Business.  The session will be led by Chris Shaw from Climate Outreach, specialists in climate change communication.

  • Chris Shaw, Senior Researcher, Climate Outreach
  • Sam Hampton, Low Carbon Advisor OxLEP and Research Associate, Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford
  • Tina Fawcett, Senior Researcher, Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford
  • Richard Blundel, Professor of Enterprise and Organisation, The Open University Business School, CUSP Fellow

The webinar is part of the ESRC Growing Greener project, co-led by CUSP Fellow Richard Blundel, with advisory support from CUSP Deputy Director Fergus Lyon. The online course and other support materials were co-created by members of the team, business advisors, SME owners and managers and other specialists, via a series of consultative workshops, seminar presentations and peer reviews.  Further details of the project can be found at: http://business-school.open.ac.uk/research/growing-greener
