This report presents a summary of a workshop we held in Stoke-on-Trent in May of this year. The emphasis in the workshop was to encourage discussions around identifying existing assets within the city, and to consider what would make Stoke-on-Trent a better place to live. Invited to the workshop were all those with whom we have been speaking to in our focus groups—including local residents, as well as representatives from a range of local arts and culture groups, charity organisations and enterprises, local businesses, the City Council and the Universities of Staffordshire and Keele.

Participants at the workshop acknowledged that although there are problems which need addressing in the city, there is also plenty to be positive about and it is important to focus on those aspects in order to help it prosper.

We aim, over the next few months, to incorporate an analysis of our own research in Stoke-on-Trent into these workshop discussions and to publish a further, more comprehensive, report.
