The link between banking and sustainability: what are the issues?

CUSP/CES Seminar with Prof Richard Werner
Guildford, 09 February 2017

However, what is the link between banking and the structure of the banking sector and environmental sustainability of economic activity, if any? There is a debate among ecological economists concerning whether debt, interest and bank based monetary systems are sustainable or encourage environmental destruction. What are the issues in this ongoing debate? What can we say empirically about this?
