Seriously Modelling what Matters | UKSD 2017 Annual Conference

London, Southbank University, 5-6 April 2017

This is the 60th anniversary of the founding of System Dynamics by Jay Forrester, who died in November 2016, leaving behind a unique and precious legacy. This conference in his honour covers contemporary examples of the classic themes he first developed:

  • World Dynamics
  • Urban Dynamics
  • Industrial Dynamics

Co-investigator Prof Aled Jones will represent CUSP in the opening session on System Dynamics and the Real World. His presentation will focus on the system dynamics work within CUSP which is composed of two main strands: the first is the collation and synthesis of narratives of sustainable prosperity arising from across the CUSP programme; the second is the development of models for the analysis and testing of the economic, financial, environmental and social dimensions of these narratives.

We are working with our partners (including KTH Sweden, the Finance Innovation Lab and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) to draw up plausible and contrasting visions of sustainable prosperity. Modelling is based on the platforms developed in the Prosperity and Sustainability in the Green Economy (PASSAGE) project (including the Green Economy Macro-Model and Accounts (GEMMA) framework being developed by CUSP Director Prof Tim Jackson and Prof Peter Victor, York University, Canada), and the expanded World 3 model being developed by the Global Resources Observatory, Anglia Ruskin University.

The event is free to attend. For more information, please visit the UKSD website.
