Innovation Unit / Compass / Webb Memorial Trust event with Tim Jackson

London, 28 June 2017, 6-8pm

What does it really mean to thrive in today’s world, and what are the key ingredients of a good society that works for everyone? Hear expert insights and discuss solutions at Learning to Thrive, a special event co-hosted by Innovation Unit, Webb Memorial Trust and Compass.

Featuring contributions on key areas, including education and learning, politics, poverty, housing, economics and place, the event will provide a shared learning space for a rich mix of leaders, thinkers and doers.

Panellist for the evening are:

Valerie Hannon, Co-founder, Innovation Unit

Valerie will launch her new book, Thrive: Schools reinvented for the real challenges we face, which takes a deep look at the nature of the change around us – particularly within environment, technology, and human evolution – and get specific about what our children need to learn if they are to flourish in this emerging world, and help shape it for the better.

Barry Knight, Principal, Webb Memorial Trust

Drawing on the Trust’s research into how to create a good society free from poverty, Barry will focus on how collective action from government, charities, business and communities is needed if we are to create and deliver a shared vision for a better, thriving, world.

Neal Lawson, Compass

Fresh off the back of the General Election, Neal will share experiences and learning from within politics about how we can create and implement policies that enable a good society – where equality, sustainability and democracy are not mere aspirations but a living reality.

Also on the panel will be Tim Jackson from the Centre for Understanding Sustainable Prosperity (CUSP) on how to create an economy that works for everyone, and Jo Miller, Chief Executive of Doncaster Council on the role of place within thriving societies.

Following the panel discussion, you can connect with a range of social innovators who are developing new ways to tackle some of our toughest societal challenges. Find out more about their work and exchange ideas about how to take their solutions to scale.
